Perhaps you have seen the television show featuring the family in Arkansas that has, until recently, 17 children. The reason I say “until recently” is because they just had their 18th! Seriously, I can’t tell you on how many levels this bothers me.
In 1980, the year I was born, the World’s population was 4,453,831,714, the current population is at 6,602,224,175 and according the the US Census Bureau it will be at nearly 10 billion by 2050! That is more than a double in population in just 70 years! Now unless you are simply ignorant, or just don’t care about the current condition of the World, how can you feel right about having 18 children? Do they not feel that overpopulation is a problem?
Population aside, how can you really raise 18 children giving them all the individual attention a child needs? If you do the math this woman has been pregnant for 13.5 years of her life! Can a mother really raise these children when she has been pregnant for their entire lives? I can only imagine the issues that having 17 siblings would bring about, not to mention a completely hormonal mother who you only know as a baby factory. It’s completely irresponsible in my eyes.
I am not sure how I feel about population control by the government, but as a citizen of this World I believe you have a responsibility to repect the others you share it with. 18 children… ridiculous.
